ASPE AWAITS YOU TO SHARE ITS
LOCAL TRADITIONS, CUISINE,
EVENTS AND HISTORY
Our Arabic legacy becomes evident as soon as visitors arrive at our village, nestled among vineyards. Al- Udri, an 11th century Arabic geographer, made the first written reference to a farmstead under the name of ASF while describing the journey between Murcia and Valencia.
Our riverside Castillo del Rio (castle), the Aljau archaeological site, the remains of Aljau and Fauqui irrigation canals and the irregular layout of our historic town centre are witness to the evolution seen by our village across many centuries.
We invite you to wander around our streets, to discover the Basilica church and History Museum, and to share in on our most traditional celebrations. Or simply to rest in one of our many terraces. These are only some of the many possibilities offered by our town. Not forgetting the well-signposted trails that criss-cross the entire council area in all directions, allowing visitors to enjoy its natural environment.
